How long have you been playing guitar?<\/strong>
\nWell, I got my first acoustic guitar when I was 7 years old. But because it was a Spanish-style acoustic with a wide neck, it was hard on my fingers, and I soon gave up after a few lessons. I picked up the electric guitar again and started playing it more seriously when I was about 13. I took a few guitar lessons, then started learning by-ear. <\/p>\n

When I was about 16 I got my first lessons teaching guitar in a music store. I went in there trying to get a job as a cashier and was turned down. But, the music store owner half-jokingly said to me, “I have a student in the back rehearsal room who wants to learn how to play Eruption” (Van Halen’s first album had come out just a few months before this in 1978, and I had taught myself Eddie’s tapping technique). “and If you can go back there and teach him how to play it, you can have a job teaching at my store”. So to his surprise I did, and so began my start as a professional musician. So, long-story-short, I have been playing professionally since 1978, so that’s 39 years. Durring that time I taught lessons one-on-one for about 8 years.<\/p>\n

Who are your favorite guitarists\/bands?<\/strong>
\nOooh, that’s a hard one.
\nBut there have been a TON of influences growing up. Early Influnces: Ace Frehley\/KISS, Elliot Easton\/The Cars, Berton Averre\/The Knack, Peter Frampton, Frank Zappa. Later Influences: Neal Schon, Dave Meniketti. Double Lead Influence: Brian Robertson, Scott Goram, Gary Moore\/Thin Lizzy as well as Dave Murray, Adrian Smith\/Iron Maiden. Much Later influences: Joes Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson of course.<\/p>\n

You mention spirit and God in some of your lessons, are you religious?<\/strong>
\nYou betcha, I’m a Christian. God is a very important part of my life and I credit Him (and a lot of practicing) for all my successes and artistic gifts. I am also accepting of all other religions and any faiths that acknowledge the Great Creator of our universe.<\/p>\n

You don’t have to be a believer in God to learn from these lessons, however, if you find yourself interested in learning more about the BIG PICTURE in life, buy yourself a quality Bible, do some reading, find a local church and see what it’s all about. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

What are your favorite guitars and amps?<\/strong>
